Then be totally unrealistic over what kind specifications in HAS to have, ie I want the whistle to sound like a mellow fog horn, I started my quest about a year ago, and quickly noticed my desire for things I could not afford fell dramatically, all I wanted was a unobtainable kettle. Anyway disaster struck, my wife finding my quest boring and embarrassing, went out last week and purchased a kettle. I'm losted, maybe I need a Samsungsamnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729674823895661245.post-49155965311171704622013-09-05T07:06:26.000-07:002013-09-05T07:06:26.000-07:00I really like that method, though I've got som...I really like that method, though I've got something similar in operation which I like to call 'living like a monk'. In other words, I don't buy anything for myself and find a virtue in that. It helps that the shops I used to love have now all closed and there are no second-hand bookshops to tempt me. I can walk around the local shopping centres for hours and see nothing I want. It's lucky that I hate mobile phones and have no reason to own one. And usually it all works okay. Except then I'll see something I really really want and it just eats away at me. I've got a relatively cheap graphics tablet which is barely adequate for my needs but the really great Wacom Cintiq pen displays are thousands of pounds and I know I'll never afford one. However, the Samsung Note tablet is a few hundred and that makes it feel almost doable... Yet I must resist. I will resist unless, of course, I sell a few cartoons and then I'd be hammering down the door of the local PC World... :(TheSpinehttp://www.the-spine.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729674823895661245.post-61279263958238736492013-09-05T07:25:34.000-07:002013-09-05T07:25:34.000-07:00Selling art is a tough old game, I'm a picture...Selling art is a tough old game, I'm a picture framer so see a lot of artists who are finding it hard.samnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729674823895661245.post-6428560043976436222013-09-05T07:36:46.000-07:002013-09-05T07:36:46.000-07:00Funny old world. I was just discussing the art of picture framing with somebody.

I definitely wouldn't call myself an artist but I imagine it's hard for people that have talent. It's even harder for those of us without the talent. ;)

Actually, I wouldn't know what to call myself. Probably a struggling writer is closer to how I see myself but the point is the same. I think blogging is seeing the death of the professional writer and the emergence of something less satisfying, akin to cheap labour and people willing to work for nothing because they think that getting that big break is important. They fail to realise that so long as people are willing to work for nothing, then nobody will ever get paid...TheSpinehttp://www.the-spine.comnoreply@blogger.com
