Mocking a man with dementia just isn't funny, mocking a self obsessed wealthy celebrity or hypocritical politician can be funny if it's done right.
It's one reason I could never get on with Little Britiain, it made fun of the weakest among us, working class girls, the poor and unfortunate.Stephennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729674823895661245.post-26902312101145995472015-07-04T04:55:47.000-07:002015-07-04T04:55:47.000-07:00Thanks Stephen. You're exactly right. Punching...Thanks Stephen. You're exactly right. Punching up is precisely the point I've always made about comedy. You remind me now how much I utterly hated 'Little Britain' and seemed to walk around being the only person who could see how insulting it was. In fact, I remember writing this about it years ago when it was at the height of its fame. I think it's pretty indicative of the BBC that they invested so much into Little Britain and why I think the BBC is largely out of touch with the rest of the country. That's not to say I don't suppose the license fee but I wish they'd use it better.David Waywellhttp://www.the-spine.comnoreply@blogger.com
