Some FIFA Cartoons

Proving that you should always quit when you're ahead, I entered this week's Gallery competition at The Guardian. I won last week but haven't done at all well this week. My first cartoon they rejected because they thought it wouldn't get past their lawyers... No idea what the hell I've said in it to warrant that...

So I did this cartoon, which made did no better than make the final selection...

    You win some, you lose some, but both of these are great cartoons. Actually, you did really well because A Beginner's Guide got into the gallery. How many weeks have you been sending your work to The Guardian? Exactly! Well done David. :-)

    Yours was better, Spine. I assume the crooked, self-interested guardian gallery judges accepted bribes from the winning entry, as a grand act of meta-satire of the ever-bent Blatter and co.

    Thanks Sarah. Thankfully they've set a really boring subject for next week so I probably won't take part plus I can claim to be so busy with the book that I couldn't possibly devote so much time to it. (In other words, I don't want to lose again!)

    Ah, Joey, thank you too, though I have to say that the winner was worthy and also a friend, so that takes away the sting of the loss. The great irony is that he won a cricket DVD and doesn't like cricket.

    Me neither. I think they probably just don't like my cartoons. It's meant to be a competition for Photoshopping but I've given that up and trying to stay copyright legal... ;)
